Introduce to MBMU's Faculty
MBMU is a beautiful healing and educational environment located in California. It brings together
professors, doctors, therapists, and scientists with kind hearts, great compassion and passion, sincere intentions and exceptional knowledge/skills to work in future medicine, a science of the mind, body and spirit for the health of whole being. Faculty members and instructors at MBMU have a doctoral degree or relevant education and clinical experience in the fields of; mind-body medicine, psychology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, conventional medicine, nutrition science, holistic health practices such as homeopathy, naturopathy, metaphysics, music sound therapy, hypnotherapy, physiotherapy, marriage and family therapy, chiropractic, message therapy, Taichi, qigong, meditation, imagery therapy, art therapy, diet therapy, natural herb therapy, etc. These professionals have a minimum of three years of successful experience in clinical practice, teaching and research and have a passion for research and teaching.
Most of MBMU's faculty members own doctorate degree except oriental medicine practitioners graduated from Oriental Medical Schools that only issue Master for their licensure. Music Therapists have the same situation. Otherwise MBMU only hires doctorates to teach.
About MBMU's Founder
Dr. Jason Liu, PhD (MD degree) in medical science, is the founder, president and professor of MBMU. He is a Board Certified Alternative Medicine Practitioner, Drugless Practitioner, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Chinese Qigong (energy healing and cultivation) master and scientist. Dr. Liu is the inventor and therapist of Brainwave-Meridian Therapy, research scientist in molecular bioscience, mind-body medicine, and a composer of Chinese energy healing music and hypnosis brainwave sounds. He is also the author of the book "Mind-Body-Spirit Medicine and Vibrational Energy Healthology" and publications on the journals and international conferences in the field of molecular neuron science and psychology.
Dr. Liu was educated and trained in the US, Japan and China and has researched and practiced in the field for over 20 years. Dr. Liu started learning Chinese medicine and practicing Qigong and Taichi since his childhood. He was elected as WHO-Granted Medical Scientist and trained by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Tokyo, Japan. He earned his bachelor in quantum physics / theoretical physics from Jinlin University, Changchun, China, graduate program in combination of east-west medicine and biophysics from Beijing University Medical School. Dr. Liu received his MD/PhD decorate in neuron-muscular physiology and pathology from Medical School, Nagoya City University, Nagoya, Japan, followed by 6 years of two postdoctoral training and research positions in medical schools of University of California, Davis, and University of Miami, and continued with research, practice and development in mind-body medicine, brainwave therapy and energy therapy, multiple level holistic medicine of the mind, body and spirit by combination of east-west medicine and psychological healing science.
Dr. Liu was a research scientist at the Medical Schools of the University of Miami and the University of California at Davis, the founder and practitioner in Mind-Body Science Institute in San Diego, California. His research has focused on molecular neuron-muscular physiology/pathology, energy healing, meditation, music/sound healing, vibration medicine, meditation and hypnosis. He has published research papers in biomedical journals and on international conferences. His researches were granted from World Health Organization (WHO), Japan-China Medical Association (JCMA, Japan), and National Institute of Health (NIH, USA).
Dr. Liu previously founded and directed the Mind-Body Science Institute and Center of Brainwave-Meridian Therapy (BMT) for over ten years, which now has been expanded as one of the clinical extensions of MBMU. He invented BMT technology as a complementary therapy integrating the principles and techniques of eastern and western medicine. BMT has improved a wide range of, emotional, mental and physical conditions including fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, stress, ADD, bipolar, insomnia, skin conditions, fibroid, Bartholin Gland cyst, etc., without medication or needles. He is also a public speaker at mind-body healing workshops conducted in English, Chinese and Japanese.
Dr. Liu, his faculty and associates are multi-talented practitioners and professionals in the field of mind-body medicine, psychology, energy medicine, holistic medicine, conventional medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine / Oriental Medicine, natural medicine, and other healthcare professions.  Dr. Rob Wolf, Ph.D. Behavioral Medicine Specialist

Dr. Rob Wolf, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof., specializes in the use of Behavioral Medicine clinical techniques. He has over 28 years experiences as a practitioner utilizing state-of-the-art Biofeedback in the treatment of stress, tension and pain. Additionally, he incorporates Neurofeedback working with children, adolescents and adults. He has been teaching Psychology and Wellness courses on campus and online on the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels since 1992.
Dr. Rob Wolf received his Bachelor of Science in Education from The University of Texas, Austin TX, Master of Arts in Psychology from The California Graduate Institute, Los Angeles, CA. He earned his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the same California Graduate Institute, and followed by Post Doctoral Fellowship training and research at The University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah.
His excellent education and training, and long years experiences in online and on campus teaching, curriculum development, and successful clinical practice in behavioral medicine, as well as his great interest and passion in teaching psychology at MBMU have
greatly strengthened MBMU psychology faculty team from all aspects. His very attractive class lecture is highly appreciated by his students.

Dr. Ardis Fisch, M.D.

Dr. Ardis Fisch, M.D., Assoc. Prof. is a distinguished conventional medical doctor with excellent education and training of conventional medicine and holistic medicine / oriental medicine. Dr. Fisch teaches Functional Medicine courses at MBMU with her exceptional inspiriting insight into both eastern and western medicine.
Dr. Ardis Fisch is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, where she won the Outstanding Clinical Research award. She went on to complete a Family Practice residency at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ in 1997. After residency, she moved to Barrow, AK to practice bush medicine. From Barrow she moved around the country doing locum tenens work in Montana, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and New Jersey. She came to the Berkshires in 2001 to work at Family Practice Associates in Pittsfield, where she worked until 2006.
Dr. Fisch has training in multiple modalities of energy healing, and studied acupuncture in Harbin, China. She has been Board Certified in Family Practice since 1997.
Dr. Fisch’s practice committed to a holistic approach to medicine. She incorporates traditional western medicine with an integrative style, using vitamins and supplements to treat common medical problems whenever possible.
Dr. Ardis Fisch's knowledge, positive involvement and constructive advice have been very helpful to MBMU's curriculum development. Her teaching brings fresh ideas and broad view to MBMU's students learning.

Dr. Bobbie Mc Donald, Psy.D.

Dr. Bobbie Mc Donald, Psy.D., Assoc. Prof., has earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Cal Southern University and master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Hope International University. She is an excellent teacher of positive psychology, cultural psychology, and a respected speaker on issues of hypnosis, and anxiety.
Dr. Mc Donald has worked in a variety of treatment settings and has developed a practical hands-on approach to empowering individuals to create change in their lives. She is currently authoring a book on Adolescent Anxiety: Causes and Treatment.
Dr. Bobbie McDonald's research interests include treatment utilizing hypnosis, positive psychology and spirituality in treatment, treatment of adolescents, and social anxiety. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Western Hypnosis Association, and American Counseling Association. Dr. McDonald is offering psychotherapeutic and hypnosis services with offices in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Dr. Nina Levy, M.D.

Dr. Nina Levy, M.D., Assoc. Prof., is a Board Certified / Licensed M.D. in Internal Medicine and Age Management Medicine in the state of California, and the members of the American College of Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) as well as the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA). Dr. Levy eared her M.D. degree from University of Vienna School of Medicine, Vienna, Austria, and conducted Internship and Residency in Internal medicine-primary care at the Unity Health System an affiliate of University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. Dr. Levy received hundreds of hours of continuing education in both conventional and integrative medicine, and was trained with some of the best in the field of integrative medicine including nutritional medicine, neuro-endocrine balancing and hormone optimization. Dr. Levy was also trained and certified in Age management Medicine by the Cenegenics health Institute, Nevada.
Dr. Nevy successfully combined the best of natural alternative medicine and conventional medicine in her practice and teaching. Her practice addresses individuals' weight loss programs, female and male hormone optimization, micronutrient testing and optimizing, neuro-endocrine testing and balancing with targeted nutritional therapy. Dr. Levy successfully alleviated many of the following conditions; weight gain, food cravings, depression, fatigue, ADHD, PMS, menopause, andropause, etc.
Dr. Nevy teaches courses at MBMU with her multiple background in both conventional medicine and holistic medicine, as well as her many years of clinical experience, enriching her students learning experience and knowledge.

Courtney Plotts, Ph.Dc., Ed.Dc.

Courtney Plotts, Ph.Dc., Ed.Dc., Assoc. Prof., is an extremely exceptional energetic and compassionate multi-talented faculty member. She was blessedly brought to MBMU because of her great passion and pure spirit resonated with MBMU's, and because of her double-degree education of MA in psychology, MA in education, PhDc in psychology and Ed.Dc in education, plus her very enriched experiences and achievements in teaching and academic development at all levels of schools and organizations.
Courtney Plotts obtained her Masters of Arts degree in Education from the University of Phoenix and Masters of Arts degree in Psychology from Northcentral University. Mrs. Plotts is currently pursuing her two finals of doctorates in Psychology and in Education. This combination degree education has afforded her the ability to use educational and human services methodology and strategies to create and implement programs in the academic setting with proven qualitative and quantitative results. She has worked as college enrollment specialist, academic advisor and admission committees. Mrs. Plotts has also served as a college admissions board, and enrollment supervisor. Mrs. Plotts has created National Family & Parent Involvement Initiative to increase parent involvement and create a cohesive support for students through the unification of family and school. Mrs. Plotts’ aim is “to make the unconventional conventional”. Mrs. Plotts taught at John Hopkins Middle School, local community colleges, University of Phoenix,
and also was an educational consultant for parents, students, and teachers at JSC & Associates Educational Advocacy and Consulting Firm, Florida.

Dr. Eric Wood, N.D.

Dr. Eric Wood, N.D., Assoc. Prof. is a licensed Naturopathic doctor with extensive education background, clinical and teaching experience. He graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine with additional post graduate studies at the Benson Henry Institute of Mind Body Medicine at Harvard. Dr. Wood has worked in both private practice and consulting work first in the Minneapolis-St.Paul area.
Recently, he was honorably invited by Mind-Body Medical University to work as an associate professor to teach Mind-Body medicine courses while practicing and consulting focused on Lyme Disease, Integrative Cancer Care, Weight Loss, Neurotransmitter and Hormone balancing, and Mind Body Medicine. Having previously consulted for Neuroscience Inc., he is now working for the Life Extension Foundation as a Complimentary Oncology Advisor, involved in consulting with patients and clinical research studies focused on preventive medicine, anti-aging therapies, and cancer. Dr. Wood is also a classically trained musician, having received his M.A. in Music in Toronto, with studies at The Royal Conservatory of Music and York University. Additionally, he has studied how music is used as a healing agent in the Australian Aboriginal community while studying at Sydney University and The Sydney Conservatory of Music (Sydney, Australia) during his undergraduate studies.

Dr. Stephen Knight, N.D.

Dr. Stephen Knight, N.D., Assoc. Prof., is a Naturopathic Physician licensed in the state of California. Dr. Knight graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and later received his doctorate from Bastyr University. He has an interest in environmental medicine, autoimmune diseases, cancer support, autism, and hormonal issues.
Dr. Knight has worked overseas where he cultivated, processed, and dispensed traditional botanical medicines at a Wat in the rural mountains of Northern Thailand. He also worked with western medical protocols at a volunteer clinic in the more urban poverty of East Timor. His approach includes a strong belief in functional medicine and its ability through proper testing to help illuminate the causes of chronic health problems. He has a practice in southern Los Angeles and treats patients with traditional naturopathic modalities like lifestyle counseling, nutritional and botanical supplementation, but also uses modern treatments like lasers and intravenous therapies.
Dr. Knight is a member of the national and state naturopathic associations (AANP & CNDA), as well as the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP), American Association of Environmental Medicine (AAEM), and the International and American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists (IAACN).With his experience and broad education background, Dr. Knight brings a lot to his teachings at MBMU. His insight into mind-body medicine makes the naturopathic approach, with its wide applications in the treatment of common and difficult diseases, understandable and inspirational.

Dr. Bianca Garilli
N.D.

Dr. Bianca Garilli, N.D. is a former United States Marine, having served five years in the Intelligence Field as an Arabic and Spanish linguist. After leaving the Marine Corps she went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Dr. Garilli received her Naturopathic Medical degree from Bastyr University, one of the world's leading academic centers for advancing knowledge in the natural health sciences. Dr. Garilli specializes in integrative, holistic health care focusing on gastrointestinal health, detoxification and weight loss protocols, natural hormone balancing programs as well as being trained in the DAN protocol and working with children on the Autism Spectrum and their families. She uses a variety of modalities always aiming at finding and addressing the underlying root cause of her patients’ health conditions. Clinical nutrition, herbal and nutraceutical medicine as well as homeopathy are the major therapies she uses in her practice.
Dr. Garilli teaches natural medicine at MBMU while conducting her private practice in Mission Viejo, CA as well as consulting with patients at the Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine, UCI, in Newport Beach, CA.

Dr. Frieda P. Fontaine, Ph.D.

Dr. Frieda P. Fontaine, Ph.D., CISSN, Assoc. Prof., is a Holistic Nutritionist and Certified Sports Nutritionist. She received her doctorate degree in Holistic Nutrition with Highest Honors from Clayton College of Natural Health, one of the premier educational institutions specializing in natural health sciences. Dr. Fontaine also received her sports nutrition certification from the International Society of Sports Nutrition , the only non-profit academic society dedicated to promoting the science and application of evidence-based sports nutrition and supplementation. In addition, Dr. Fontaine received a Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctorate degree (J.D.) from American College of Law.
Dr. Fontaine is specializing in healing through nutrition and natural therapies, and hold the belief that good health and wellness is achieved holistically, and that every human body is different. Thus, she understands that individualized and customized nutritional therapy programs are mandatory to help her clients achieve optimal health. Some of Dr. Fontaine’s specialties include medical nutrition therapy for diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
Dr. Fontaine teaches Holistic Nutrition and Clinical Nutrition at MBMU. She also regularly conducts private practice and holds speaking engagements and seminars throughout Los Angeles discussing various nutrition-related topics. Integral to her professional career as a nutritionist is her commitment to give back to the Los Angeles community.

Dr. Maxine Fidler N.D., LAc,
Dipl. Ac., MSAOM

Dr. Maxine Fidler, ND, LAc, Dipl. Ac., MSAOM, Visiting Professor at MBMU, received her degree of doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University, Kenmore, WA. She also received a Bachelors degree in Applied Music from Geneva College.
As a licensed acupuncturist, oriental medicine doctor and naturopathic medicine practitioner, Dr. Fidler
is passionate about helping people with chronic conditions regain their health and wellness, using multidisciplinary holistic care to help them truly thrive. With a focus on environmental medicine, she specializes in the integrative treatment of chronic conditions, including asthma, allergies, fibromyalgia, and fatigue, and is currently practicing in Middlebury, Vermont.
Dr. Fidler also practices martial arts, plays the violin, enjoys knitting and the outdoors, knows how believing that health comes from the integration of mind and body. She is also a writer and speaker, contributing regular public talks and freelance articles on health and wellness, as well as authoring an e-book on Chinese herbs.
Dr. Maxine Fidler is a member of the Vermont Association of Naturopathic Physicians ( VANP ), the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians ( AANP ), the Vermont Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
(VAAOM), the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine ( AAAOM ) and the Addison County Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Filder Fidler teaches at MBMU as a visiting professor, bringing great asset to the university with her compassion and knowledge in the fields of naturopathic medicine, oriental medicine and mind-body healing science.

Dr. Ashia James, Ph.D.

Dr. Ashia James, Ph.D., is an experienced American Native Herbologist, certified hypnotherapist, aromatherapist, imagery therapist, private practitioner, and consultant, researcher and educator of mind-body wellness.
She is also a published author and has written magazine articles pertaining to mind-body wellness.
Dr. Ashia James is a licensed educator and administrator who has worked in various facets of education as a teacher, trainer, and administrator. She has worked at the elementary level, high school level, and with adult learners. Dr. James holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Education from New York Institute of Technology, a Master of Science degree in Teaching and Training from Capella University, and a doctoral degree in Education from Capella University. Dr. James has developed courses for New Jersey City University and the University of Georgia continuing education departments.
Dr. James’ focus and research interests are in mind-body wellness and education. As a certified hypnotist, family herbalist and imagery therapist, she incorporates herbology teaching with guided imagery meditation and hypnosis practice, taking the conventional herbology education into spiritual depth and effective healing, and making a unique creative course at MBMU.

Dr. Jody Stanislaw, N.D.

Dr. Jody Stanislaw, N.D., is a practicing naturopathic physician. She received her doctorate degree from Bastyr University, a highly acclaimed university where physicians are trained to heal disease via natural and complementary treatments. Dr. Stanislaw has practiced medicine both here and in Asia. She appreciates that overall well-being can only be achieved by building health from the ground up. Rather than looking only to the problem at hand, her focus is on what goes on in the bigger picture of one's daily life. She is an expert at helping patients build a strong foundation for their well-being via the Four Pillars of Health:
1-Nutritious Food,
2-Adequate Rest,
3-Regular Movement, and
4-a Healthy Emotional and Spiritual life.
Just as important as the sturdiness of each leg of a four legged table is for creating balance, if even one of these areas of life is weak or lacking, optimal health cannot exist. By focusing her teachings and medical practice on these four areas, Dr. Stanislaw successfully communicates in her teaching classes and therapy sessions about how to enjoy living healthfully today, and in the long run.

Dr. Jeffery T. Moore, N.D. LAc.

Dr. Jeffery T. Moore, N.D., LAc., is a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist. He is experienced in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals, primary care clinics, homeless shelters and HIV clinics. His practice focus is in primary care medicine, acupuncture and Chinese medicine, men’s health and integrative medicine. Dr. Moore graduated from the Bastyr University and was awarded a residency at Yellowstone Naturopathic Clinic. Dr. Moore’s background included management responsibilities in aircraft maintenance and he claims his experience in diagnosing safety and system problems in aircraft was a huge benefit in honing his diagnosis skills. Jeff is an avid outdoorsman and finds himself at home in Montana’s Big Sky Country. Dr. Moore conducts community presentations, clinic presentations and enjoys teaching and sharing his knowledge.

Dr. Scott Buesing, N.D.

Dr. Scott Buesing, N.D., is a licensed Naturopathic Physician in the state of Washington specializing in the treatment of mental health conditions at the renowned Center for Counseling and Health Resources. Dr. Buesing is part of a multidisciplinary team at The Center that treats patients from all over the world, focusing on a whole body, holistic approach to mental health and wellness. Areas of primary interest include anxiety, depression, addiction and eating disorders. Treatment is based on a broad-spectrum approach to understand and treat the underlying causes of the condition, focusing on lifestyle factors, nutrient deficiencies, herbal medicine, orthomolecular treatments, biofeedback, mental/emotional strategies, and the selective use of medication if or when needed. Dr. Buesing earned his naturopathic degree from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington and his undergraduate B.S. from Iowa State University in Electrical Engineering. In addition to his medical training, Dr. Buesing has over 500 hours of hands-on experience in craniosacral therapy and teaches mind-body relaxation techniques to patients on a weekly basis. The combination of education and experience, gives Dr. Buesing a unique approach and understanding of the human body with a passion for finding the most effective, safest treatments to restore health.
